There has previously been some talk about building an XSLT processor
on top of libxml. Has anybody started working on this?

If so, how far did you get, and is the sourcecode available anywhere?

If not, I would like to hear who would be interested in participating
in this. XSLT is a rather large undertaking, so I presume that we have
to be at least a couple of people working on this project. I expect my
own participation to vary in accordance with my workload.

A feasible approach seems to be to start with evaluating existing XSLT
processors, and if possible "borrow" ideas and code from them. I could
well imagine that we start by building a more-or-less trivial prototype,
and once we have gained sufficient experience start with on a properly
designed implementation.
