Oh, I wasn't aware that there were two different initiatives.
What is the difference?

Excellent.

May I suggest that the valuePush/Pop functions use prefixed
names to avoid potential naming conflicts?

I just implemented a version of the function registering based
on hash tables, which passes the XPath regression tests. Let me
know if you want a patch.
