Well the Makefile.in are autogenerated from the Makefile.am
I think I finally managed to get automake to do what I needed
in term of adding an include subdir and the way to make tests.
This was rather painful, and required among other things to
rename xml-error.h to xmlerror.h (never trust a 10,000 line perl
script !).
