  yep, it is probable I didn't chased all the occurences where
I should not use direct access to CUR. However this is really
contextual, for example when one process keywords, it's important
to check for corruption/errors but if one can avoid the cost of
translating to UTF-8 that's a win too. But I agree with you
there might be place where the lookup is just bogus.
  If you can send me (directly) the lines where this happen that
would reduce the work needed for chasing them (and the the time
needed to get this fixed :-)
