Actually, I have had second thoughts about that, although I haven't
made up my mind yet.

However, what it means is that instead of simply libraries, you
now have to deal with the distinction between "libtool archives"
and "convenience libraries" and their specific linking properties.
More complexity.

What's wrong with this? It's baloney.

It simply repeats one particular property of C libraries.
The second clause "more formally defined interfaces" begs the
obvious question: more than what?
