One thing you didn't address here is the modalities of actually donating
code to kaffe.
That is,
a) what legal paperwork is required to ensure the cleanroom status.
b) do donors have to give up the copyright of their code.
I don't know if an answer to b) is implicit in your reply or not.
I mean, if kaffe doesn't require donors to give up their copyright, then
it should be apparent to the rest of the world who the "bad guys" are:
people who only allow you to donate if you disown your own code to
please some fanatics who'll eventually end up bickering over control
to a point where no progress becomes possible (e.g. gcc/egcs).
For instance, Linus never gave up his copyright on the Linux code,
and in fact he used the position this gave him when the question arose
how to include the ext2fs port I did for BSD into FreeBSD.
(That's why it's still GPLed in a separate tree in /usr/src/sys/gnu
or something like that --- cause it uses two files copyrighted by
Linus & Remy --- the rest is ufs derived code.)
