Hello all,
I have an application that converts XML to a readable text and back
again that I plan to release shortly. I am trying to decide which license to
use and I want to make sure that it is fully compatible with the license
that libxml2 is release under. I have done some hunting around and according
to http://xmlsoft.org the code seems to be released under the W3C IPR and
the GNU LGPL. I then looked for the text of these in the code tree and found
that every source file has this reference in it:
* See Copyright for the status of this software.
However, there is no file called Copyright. There are a pair of files called
COPYING and COPYING.lib. One is the GPL and the other the LGPL.
Which license is libxml2 really released under, and if there becomes a
desire to incorporate all or part of my application into the libxml2 distro,
which license would allow this and still allow it to be a stand alone app?
Thanks in advance!
