[xml] Need Help for first time users of libxml

Please let me know where can I find the documentation, before I start
compiling the libxml code on HP-UX11 m/c.

I think there needs to be some parameters passed to run ./configure,
so that appropirate Makefile is generated.

Otherwise I am getting all sorts of problems.

I have tried to set in Makefile as follows :
CC = $(PURE) aCC
CFLAGS = ?? (All possible attempts I could do)?

I see weared compilation errors..like

/bin/sh ./libtool --mode=compile aCC -I. -c SAX.c
aCC -I -c SAX.c -o SAX.o

Error 19:"./libxml/xlink.h", line 180 # Unexpected '}'.
.
.
