[xml] Thread Safe?

Is either libxml-1.0.0 or libxml-1.1.0 multithread safe? After browsing the
message archive and the release notes, I am still uncertain as to the
current status. I see thread safety mentioned in a few places, and that it
was being worked on, but I can't find a definitive answer anywhere.

I want to be able to have multiple threads parse the same file at the same
time, or parse different files at the same time. Is this possible?
